Luray Caverns

About 95 miles outside Washington, DC is the town of Luray, Virginia.
In 1878 some local residents could feel cold air rising from a sinkhole.
What they discovered were some fantastic caves.
They were formed around 400 million years ago in what is now the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
It was very challenging taking photos in the cave due to the darkness and the bright lights used to illuminate the fantastic formations.
It was a 1.23 mile journey to walk through the cavern.
I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Each new photo can be seen at the end of the gallery.
