The Hills and Steps of Edinburgh

I was surprised at how many steps and how hilly Edinburgh was.
The photo on the right takes you up to where our hotel was right next to St Giles Cathedral.
That’s a lot of steps.
The photo on the left also takes you to the same spot, it’s a long and fairly steep hill.
In order to get to and from the train station you have to take one or the other.
We opted for the hill each time we were in this area.
Waverley Train Station is at the bottom of the hill.
We had already gone up quite a bit of a hill to get to this spot.

You can see things a bit better when viewed in original.

Looks like the hill was the better choice for walking and for photography. "V"

At least there's plenty to take your mind off the steepness. Love all the flags on the hill - so much better than power lines!

that's a wise choice to find photo-opportunities every few paces in the face of the endless climbs...between the many hills, and pubs, it can be slow going in Edinburgh..

Well, at least you can slide down the hand rail and avoid the steps coming down 8-)

Interesting - the hill area is decorated and the step area is dark and plain.

I was thinking of going in 2020 and then the Covid-19 came.....V
