Amazing events ! Yesterday T said he loved his supporters and today says he's going to lock them up. Interesting and difficult times ahead I fear. V

After Trump summoned his crazed followers to “Big protest in DC on January 6th. "Be there, will be wild!". He then urged supporters to march to the capitol and pressure Congress to overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s win. I am surprised that the authorities were not prepared violence of some kind.
I hope there is a way to keep Trump under control for the next two weeks.

You may call me a dreamer, but I still believe "Good" will triumph over "Evil" as long as we keeping working on it. V

disappearing in white light too, how appropriate....the danger of a demagogue have been clearly demonstrated, so US citizens must tread carefully into the uncertain future..

I agree with you Jane. I think our system needs updating, we need better education, we need to bridge the gap between rich and poor, we need to treat all people equally, and much more. A tall order for a selfish and ignorant population.

I know it's not possible, but just imagine if the Dems would have done what the GOP has been doing for the past 4 years, and especially yesterday! I can hear them screaming treason from every bullhorn they could muster! And Danad is so right ... Germany 1933!
danad07-Jan-2021 16:17
USA (and other countries) are into a dangerous spiral. It reminds me Germany one century ago ....
John Hamers07-Jan-2021 15:45
Hopefully things will get better on short notice.

That is certainly how it feels. The US was once the beacon of hope and freedom, a strong democracy admired by many countries in the world. Now, thanks the cult of Trump, it has become a divided nation, with his supporters ready to do violence for him, to support his outrigt lies. What he did, I believe, was treasonous and he should be tried for inciting the toppling of the government. Unbelievable.
Helen Betts07-Jan-2021 14:54
I'm afraid I have to agree with you. V.
Neil Marcus07-Jan-2021 14:54
Your fading of the capitol is telling. I hope that it can be turned around in our lifetime. "V"

Nice photograph what happened yesterday was terrible but our country will bounce back quickly in less than two weeks, DC Law enforcement learned a lesson last night about being prepared for large crowd events .
A very appropriate photo for the current happening.
