Blood Donor

There was no doubt either when Fenway was sad.
When he was about two and a half year's old his big sister Scout ruptured her cruciate ligament.
Little did we know that when we did the surgery Scout was suffering from liver cancer.
Her bloodwork before the surgery was normal.
She came through the surgery alright but had a tough time waking up.
The morning after the surgery she was almost gone.
Had it not been for Fenway and his donation of whole blood she would have died the day after the surgery.
Because of the blood transfusion from Fenway we were able to say our goodbyes to Scout.
His blood had given her another week of life.
I think you can tell from the photo that Fenway knew his sister was very sick.
The bruising on her abdomen is evidence of the inability of her blood to clot properly.

Such a sad story. A sweet image. Dogs are very aware, intelligent animals.

So nice of Fenway to comfort his big sister. He does look rather sad.
