New Year's Sunrise

King's Park, Perth, Western Australia

Ritsuko and I decided in true Japanese fashion that we would watch the sunrise on New Year's Day. We woke up at 4:45am and drove up to King's Park which is about 20km away from our house.

Before the next New Year we plan to move to Japan so I thought this verse was rather appropriate:-
"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.
And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful." -
Revelation 21:5 (King James Version)

I would like to wish all of my Pbase friends a Happy 2008.

Mr. Clarke and Ritsuko,

This is a touching image. God is the light that shines through eternity. When there is light, there is hope. Not even the darkest of dark exists when there is a spark of light.

In Him.

Thank you for sharing this first glimpse of our new year as it dawned earlier on beautiful Oz. It's still dark as I write from outside Chicago at 6 in the morning, but I offer the following verse from one of my favorite poets, especially fitting in light of your upcoming travel plans:

The new year arrived
in utter simplicity -
and a deep blue sky
