Upmarket Ryokan

Arashiyama, Kyoto-fu, Japan view map

Ryokan is a traditional style Japanese Hotel, where you sleep on futons which are laid out on the tatami floor in the evening. Also included the accommodation fee is breakfast and dinner, which are prepared in the traditional style. The better places serve the meal in your room. A very basic Ryokan would cost including breakfast and dinner about $75USD per person per night, I normally stay at ones ranging from $120USD - $200USD per person per night. I'm not sure how much this one costs, but given it's prime location it would be in $300USD+ per person per night range. Very famous Ryokan in the centre of Kyoto where big stars stay can cost upwards of $500USD per person per night.

Another tip is, if you can stay in the off peak times, you can usually get half price at most Ryokan's plus if it's a hot spring Ryokan, have the whole hot spring to yourself!

Looks like a great spot, a little pricey, but nice. Great tips too, BV!
