Vislanda was the main train cemetary until end of the 1980s. The place had a busy time from the end of the 1950s, where the steam engines and odd non-SJ stock were scrapped. In the end of the 1970s, in the era of the "pervasive class Rc", locos of classes D, F, H and Mg met their fate here, together with endless rows of DMUs and freight cars.
It is a fair guess that the soil around the site is everything but healthy. Transformer oil, heavy metals, asbestos etc. was handled with no, or a minimum of safety precautions until the beginning of the 1970s.
Today, the site is not run by SJ, and has turned into a more general steel scrap recycling plant.
