The history of Tuna Hästberg goes back to as early as 1367, but during the iron boom in the 1950’s, the mine was modernized and new facilitieswere built. According to the very state-of-the-art, the new top modern mine was opened in 1954.
This mine certainly followed the rule of "house's mine", so when the steel works at Domnarvet changed their ore supply, the mine's foundation disappeared and the mine was closed on June 30th, 1968.
