Do I hate overpriced proprietary contacts or what? Does the world need additional proprietary contacts as there are thousand standard contacts out there already? Most of Canon's SLRs have this contact for the remote switch and the only option is the ridiculously priced remote RS-80N3. Another horribly expensive Canon option is the LC-5 which works with IR. However, IR is a bad option as it requires line-of-sight or indoor use where light ray bouncing may work. Outdoor, perfect alignment is a must for it to work in the > 5 m range. And, what - did you say US$ 450 for a IR remote??? Hey Canon, come on...
