The crossing consists of three groups of bridges. This is the group crossing the main branch of river Dalälven where extensive log driving was performed until 1970.
As seen, the pillars are slightly asymmetric with one end being like the bow of a ship. This forms an ice breaker during spring time where large amounts of ice drifts by. Furthermore, as river Dalälven was a major route for timber flotation, this design also provided some protection against log jams that otherwise could form around the pillars.
