These limestone silos guaranteed continuous operation for the ropeway. Presumably, the quarrying operations were only conducted normal work-hours on weekdays, whereas the ropeway ran around the clock.
The peak was reached in 1967, where some 650,000 tons were transported. With some 90 tons/hour transporting capacity, that means 24x7 operation for 300 days, i.e. about 10 months. I believe that was the maximum practical utilization possible, given hiccups, vacations and regular maintenance shutdowns.
