I guess this section of the trestle was replaced by a concrete one in a later stage. Now it just ends nowhere and a few burned stumps can be seen from the wooden part that perished in the 1998 arson fire

One of the projects my old company had was going to the dock and replacing the wooden stumps with concrete stumps. A lot of the wooden ones were so old that they were weak and cracked quite easily. We had to go in and personally take out each stump and replace it. Hopefully the concrete stumps will be able to hold up longer and better than the old wooden ones. http://www.copeindustries.com.au/stumps/cat/
