Gen. Blackshear's Military Road emerged from Jacksonville, Ga., went near present-day Douglas, Blackshear, and on to the coast. His road converged at Ft. Clark (Jacksonville, Ga.) with the Old River Road and Hartford Road. He built Ft. Clark and two other forts in Telfair County for protection against the Indians.
