This is my Magna, (so far un-named), the second bike I brought from a private owner. It’s a partially and lovingly restored and modified 1995 Magna. When I originally saw this bike and was considering purchasing it, the poor thing was in very rough shape indeed. It had a rotted and torn saddle - seat, rotted leather saddlebags, a rotted leather “Harley Davidson” brand tool pouch strapped to the front end, a rotted leather clutch and brake control fringe hanging from the controls … in fact, when I test drove the bike around the block for the first time on my “test ride”, green mold and dust was blowing off the back of the bike like a cloud. It had sat exposed to the rain and weather for a solid year and I don't even think it had been started in that year. When I opened the saddle bags to look inside, I was actually looking at the exhaust pipes through the leather as they had rotted straight through the bottom exposing the pipes on both sides. Nevertheless, I could tell when we finally got it started that it was more or less mechanically sound as it sounded like a fine Swiss watch. It's taken quiet a bit of time (and money!) to get it into the shape it's in now, with a lot being left to do … but it's now four cylinders of roaring spitting breathing fire and power from the four huge cylinders … and a TRUE joy to ride! There’s still many plans in store for her, not least a customized paint job that will make it truly “my bike”, and by the time I’m finished I’m expecting to enter, (and WIN!), bike competitions around the area.
