Step 15

Tallahassee / Quincy, Florida

To darken the background and make it appear to be more of a moon-lit scene, I left-clicked on the background image under the layers, and holding down the mouse button I drug it down to the icon that looks like a box inside of a box. (It’s right next to the little trash can that’s all the way to the right.) When I released this mouse button, it perfectly duplicated the background as another layer. I then adjusted the colors again as I did in step 14 by clicking on “Image” on the top bar. I went down to “Adjustments”, then to “Color Balance.” To make a moonlight type color, blend blue with 100 percent cyan. I will duplicate this step a couple of times until I have the color just the way I want it to be. Once you have the colors just the way you want them, choose a LARGE “Eraser Tools” and choose the first 300 pixel icon that you go to when scrolling down. You will need to make this eraser even larger by using the “[“ key on your keyboard Very gently erase JUST on top of each flower, … that will erase the colors that you’ve just added, and if you make the eraser just smaller than each flower, you will actually be able to “blend” the colors. When you get the layer almost “just right”, left click on the next to the bottom layer on the right hand side, … the one that is identified as “Background Copy”. This will highlight this layer. Go up to “Layers” and then all the way to the bottom to “Merge down” and left click on it. This will JUST merge these two layers and these two layers alone leaving all the other layers still in place. Repeat this step until the image looks good to you. This is where you have fun, blending the colors and the light / dark controls until you have the image looking the way you want it to look.
