Technically, autumn is here even though the weather is still as hot as Hades. Nevertheless, soon the leaves here in Northern Florida will be turning golden and crimson and falling from the trees like gold coins strewn by the hands of God. There will be no more beach trips with photographs taken of beautiful oiled and bronzed women, no more mowing the lawn, no more working in the yard converting my home into a garden. It will be time for the slower ticking of the clock and a more laid back relaxed pace. Years ago I bought a beautiful set of wood carving knives, and this year my project in the wood shop when the weather is cold is to convert logs and planks of wood into these delightful wood sprites and gnomes to hide among the trees and peek out from bushes in the spring.
A man needs a creative hobby, …
and I’ve got a doozie.
