The two sided "Kendang" drum is part of many Gamelan ensembles in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. This smaller model is just an example, not loud enough for the bigger ensembles. All Kendang drums are played with the bare hands and are placed on a stand. They function as a time meter following the expressions of the performed music.
