20 January

My Partner in Crime

I feel at home behind the keyboard. I decided in 7th grade that I wanted to write for a living. And so I did ...
high school newspapers and yearbooks, journalism school at university, my first job at a daily newspaper,
then later on to weekly and monthly magazines and finally my current career in PR. I am sure that I will do
something else before I hang it up for good, but whatever I do, a keyboard will probably figure big time.

While I have been using a PC for more than 20 years, I sometimes wish I still had my trusty Smith-Corona!

It's fun to find about the secret lives of our PAD friends :) A great photo and commentary!

Jim.. where's the cockatiel? don't all keyboards come with cockatiels attached to the right hand side? mine sure seems to be made that way :) interesting to read your notes.. sorry I've been too busy to comment for a few days

Wow nice story Jim! It was only recently that I decided that I'm going to go make an attempt at a photography career, this is the type of story that helps encourage me! Thanks!

For me, it was an old Remington. Then an IBM Selectronic. Good story, Jim! Good photo too!

You've represented both talents very well here Jim. You hands look very comfy and your words are well chosen and concise. Excellent, on both accounts.

Great shot and pairing with commentary. Oh, so you don't use the two finger approach ;). I like the processing on this.

I like the toning and the crop. Those old typewriters sure have more character than computer keyboards though, huh? uuuuhhhh...that gives me an idea. Maybe an photo of your old typewriter?? So you're a writer, huh? I bet you're a great one.

Nice toning. It looks like a book illustration. It's amazing how anything got done in the old days with typewriters, when cutting and pasting meant just that, with a scissors and glue. No, I feel no nostalgia at all.

Excellent toning, Jim. Writing... love it.

My Dad spent his life in newspapers - I remember the clatter of the typwriters, and the basement 'hell' of the printers in the basements.... (and the lunchtimes in the pub!)
- all that from your photo... must be a good one, think it's the hands... thanks

I loved the sound of a typewriter, I do miss it sometimes

Nice looking keyboard, I bet you don't have to put up with Windows 95 at work!

A lovely shot Jim. I don't believe you want your old manual typewriter back - remember the tippex!
