Transplanted Hellebore

I discovered this hellebore in an area of our woods that is devoted to discarded plants. Rather than die when I placed it there because it wasn't doing well, it decided to take root and we decided we would replant it in a better spot.

My husband started to dig a hole for it, lost his footing, fell, and in the process the shovel went into his scalp causing a whole lot of bleeding. I applied a lot of pressure to the wound with paper towels, even though I knew there was dirt I was pressing into the wound, but I had to stop the bleeding.

At an Urgent Care center the wound was cleaned and he was stitched up.

We decided his hole digging days were over, so I had to see if I could dig up this plant. Fortunately, it wasn't on a steep slope (lots of which we have) and with one shovel dig I had the plant out and put it in the hole that was abandoned, along with some mushroom compost. Hopefully it will do well there, because lots of blood was shed for its existence.
