What is the red attachment? Is this a secondary heat shield? I have worked on a lot of M16 A2 weapons, and I have never seen this. The ones I worked on were fixed with a collapsible stock also. I also worked on the SMG 9mm series. Great shot of the weapon, my question is just out of curiosity.
