Road Drama

The early morning sky on the road to Death Valley Junction was spectacular. In an attempt to capture what I saw, the next three images were taken from a moving vehicle, hence the titles "Drive-by Sky."

This seems like a magic cloud, a spirit hovering in the stormy sky. How beautiful!

Thanks Phil for referring to my image here - in this image I love the way the dark line of the mountain leads to the small white cloud. It is moments like this that keep me wandering around with my camera.

You and Tim, shooting from different cars, saw the same wonderful cloud hovering over the mountains. Tim's image is athttp://www.pbase.com/mityam/image/75441473 You use a bold sandwhich concept here -- with the bottom layer of the road pulling us into the image and the huge black cloud in the top layer pushing us down into the scene. Tim, meanwhile, only implies the presence of that road and that cloud, concentrating on the precarious nature of the haunting ghost-like white cloud emerging from Death Valley as a shroud. Which is better? Neither. There is no such thing as better here. You are each telling different stories. Yours is told from the point of view of a traveler entering Death Valley, while Tim tells a ghost story. Marvelously expressive images -- both of them.
