ACNA Safety Seminar and Driving School Waterford Hills, Michigan August 5th & 6th 2004
These images are of the Audi Club North America Annual Waterford Hills Safety Seminar and Driving School held in August of every year. Known as one of the most challenging racetracks in North America, the 1.5 mile track covers multiple elevation changes, twelve turns (including off-camber and esses) and a back and front straight. Due to the relatively small size of the track, top speeds are kept down, with an emphasis on car and driver agility and skill. I would have made more images, but work dictated that I could only spend the mornings at the track this time (save dinner on Thursday). Did I mention the weather was perfect? It was -- clear in the mid 70's (~22ºC).
While all drivers must be part of the club, you may drive any car so long as it passes safety inspection. This year we had two Z06 Corvettes (both 405HP versions and both from Illinois, a few Porsches (C2 and 911), assorted BMW's, Audi A4's, S4's RS6's 80/90, Ur S6, Urquattro and my big V8 5-speed (my Urq was having some issues at the time).
While I didn't do any instructing at the event this time, I did get to practice my photo skills ;-)
