Stratiomyidae: Soldier Flies

                                          Soldier Flies: Stratiomyidae

This family favors stream environments; some larvae are aquatic. The first two were found near a stream and pond,
respectively. The gold & black soldier Fly is common at Ulistac, a dry area, but fairly near Guadalupe Creek.

Characteristics of this family: flattened abdomen and wings folded directly over each other, making it hard to see the venation.
