Common Lippia, Phyla nodiflora
aka Garden Lippia, Frogfruit, Sawtooth Frogfruit, Turkey Tangle and Matchweed; "Lippia" is used by CalPhotos.
Family: Verbenaceae. Clusters of small white flowers resemble those
in the Mint Family. This species was formerly placed in genus Lippia.
Found along levees in the South Bay; also a lawn weed in some areas.
Ecology: Wet places, pond margins; Elevation: < 400 m.
Distribution Outside California: warm temperate, tropics +- worldwide.
Flowering Time: May--Nov
Note from Jepson: Questionably native; variation in leaf margin, leaf hairiness
may reflect multiple introductions from elsewhere, including South America.
