Rikie used to have a basic point and shoot camera. Around the same time, we both found ourselves getting frustrated with our P&S cameras — especially as we watched the great quality pictures our husbands were getting with their gear. Sure, we know it isn't the gear that makes a photo great, but let's face it, you are only as good as your gear allows you to be. A picture in a low light environment on a P&S is going to be more grainy than the same picture taken on an SLR. Once the guys explained this to us, Rikie opted to move up to a DSLR choosing quality over camera size. I elected to stay with a P&S opting for a pocketable size (barely) over quality. We both, however, have learned that if there is a picture we really want, we shouldn't rely on husbands to get it for our scrapbooks. Consequently, we are learning to capture those moments for our books on our own and having a darn fun time doing so.
