This is a Lark Bunting seen in the Colorado Pawnee Grasslands on Weld County Road 96 near CR57. Its not always easy to get a picture of a black bird that shows much feather detail. This picture does show some white detail on the bottom side of the tail. A typical pose for this bird is to sit with wings slightly open.
