I think the young man is wondering what we're finding so photographically fascinating. This is new to him. As his society changes, so will his experiences and his world view. I'm glad we could help him along and that you expressed it so poignantly.

I am thrilled that you love this shot Phil! This image holds great meaning in my heart because I like making the analogy between you and Van Gogh- because you, in my eyes, are a "Master" in your own right. And that boy observing from behind could very well represent me, learning from your knowledge and expertise.

And yes, although Van Gogh was not a photographer we have much to learn from his ideas. His and our tools vary, but we share the same principles of art and aesthetics when it comes to artistic expression. He left a great legacy behind from which we can all learn from, despite our choice of artistic instrument!

I love this shot, Celia -- I did not that Iris and I had an audience here. Your title is apt -- in Photography, we never stop learning from the "masters." In this case, Van Gogh comes to mind -- while not a photographer, Van Gogh showed us how to change reality to an impression, and then use primary colors and textures to intensify them.
