There were so many opportunities to take pictures of kites when we were in China. This one is unique...soaring like the city itself, a metaphor for Shanghai.

Thanks Tim for your comment on colour. I love colour, through all its extreme ends of the spectrum. It's probably the first thing that speaks to me in an image. This photo probably wouldn't have worked if the kite was in grey too, but thankfully the sun's backlit colours came through the kite, infusing it with life and energy, lifting it from its static, monotonous environment.

It seems as if the kite is climbing to the sun. Great relationship between color and gray.
