George was the fifth child of thirteen & the fourth son born to, Andrew Victor Mattson & his wife, Hannah Sofia [Johnson] Mattson. He was born in White Hall Michigan, but later moved to Newberry, Luce, MI. It was in Newberry on 13 February 1918, that he married, Alma Alena Johnson. Together this couple would share six children. George was a veteran of the Great War, & the Swedisch language was his mother tongue.
