Wow, you really did a great job staging this; her clothes, hair and makeup, and the expression in her eyes are perfect for this frightening scene!

Wow...thanks Martin (and everyone else too). I think our ideas on the shoot changed as we were doing it - we started with an acting portfolio shoot - she had a gown on with the necklace and make-up done evening-style...then she donned the coat and mussed the hair for some 'morning after' type of shots, as if the evening got out of whack. Somewhere along the way, we decided to go for a disheveled, crying, dark, lost look. The smeared makeup looked kind of wild, and I got this idea to try a few 'vampire' shots, like a newly converted victim coming to grips with her new life. B&W with a little sepia drip, and enhanced noise, seemed to fit the dark theme and create a more brooding and eerie, almost bruised, look. The shoot was alot of fun - first time I ever shot model/portfolio shots before.

Jeebus, Justin, I said "eerie", not "shocking" ;)
Frank took my opening comments right out of my mouth... dark and depressing. I don't even know where to begin analyzing this image, it's that powerful. For all I know she could be a neighbour posing for a halloween shot, or it could be genuine. The necklace though is where any of my ideas as to the backstory here goes all out of whack... it just doesn't seem to belong, yet there it is, a little decorative & feminine trinket hanging around the most improbable neck. This is super work, from the moment you pressed the shutter button to the final save-to-disk!

For gosh sakes - someone give the lady a Midol. :-)

Justin, this is fabulous. Absolutely fabulous!

Pretty creepy, Justin. Looks like she's been on a 'feeding frenzy'. Good work. -Kathy Palmer

Uff, this is heavy stuff, really dark expression. But tells much more than just one story, which for sure makes it a great image.
