That definitely delivers an eerie feel...the girl herself, even with the red eyes, wouldn't have been all that eerie-looking...but including the always-creepy dolls in the background make you wonder if the girl hasn't been pulled over to the dark side.

Kathy, I wanted to write something similar to Daniel's comment, I'll just say that I agree in this case that the selective colouring works 100%, but I also have to say that I think it would work equally as well if it was fully a monochrome image: the dolls in the background give me the willies and the innocent-looking face, if without the red eyes, would really make me wonder what her role in this scene is. It's one of those "I want to express how I see it to the viewer" vs. "I want the viewer to make up their own story"... many images work either just one way or the other, this one works both ways! Very nicely done all around! :)

Generally I do not like "partially desaturated" images at all. But this is so very subtle and--in addition--so fit for the challenge theme, it fascinates me. Well done, Kathy! -- db.

Oooh, Kathy - I like this one too!! Beautiful girl and I love the effect. And those dolls with the round cicrles for mouths....looks like they are saying, 'Oh no!'
