Soft focus image of the Virginia Bluebells growing along the banks of Bull Run in Manassas Battlefield National Park. Had trouble choosing one for the PAD so added two more on in my PAD reject gallery - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/95538721 - and - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/95538722
Lots of folks walking and/or shooting but in nearly three hours I only saw one other photographer (besides me) with kneepads and taking photos from lower than 4-5 feet above ground (even the several with tripods who extended the tripod to full height and then extended the telephoto zoom all the way out to compensate!). These flowers grow about 12 inches tall and droop over toward the ground like little blue bells (I wonder where they got their name?) so you can imagine where the camera was for this shot. A million laughs on the banks of Bull Run.
Not laughable was the couple picking bluebells (illegal in the park). When I said "Excuse me but picking those flowers is against the law" the woman replied "I know, but they're so pretty..." - to which I replied "Oh - that makes it OK then" (and in my imagination threw them both over the bank into the water.) Lots of jerks out there in the world.
