Monsalvat was built in 1938 as a haven for painters and artists on 12 acres of parkland, that at the outbreak of WW 2 was turned into a farming collective "for the war effort" and during this period dairy, stables, silos and storehouses were built.
These have been turned into studios & workshops, where artists now reside and work.
