Challenge: Fruits and Vegetables

Home, Kitchen

Recently, my cousin stopped by for a visit and told us about a new business she has to promote. Mona Vie. Move over Doc Meriwether, you've got competition in the form of this new multi-level marketing business.

Made using the antioxidant rich açai berry, this fruit drink is the cure all for anything that ails you. That's right! Have a pain in your joint that doctors can't cure? Have ADD and need more focus in your life? Need to lose weight? Have high cholesterol? Have thyroid disease? Depressed? Skin breakouts? Just drink 2oz of this in the morning and 2oz in the evening and all your woes will be cured. This miracle juice will give you more energy during the day and help you sleep well at night.

Now, to be fair, it is made from the following 19 Fruits: Açai Berry, Camu-camu, Pear, Cranberry, Banana, Nashi Pear, Prunes, Wolfberry, Purple Grapes, Pomegranate, White Grape, Aronia Berry, Apricots, Lychee Fruit, Blueberry, Bilberry, Acerola Cherry, Kiwi Fruit, and Passion Fruit. Fruits are good for you and most likely, they are bound to cure something, make you more regular, and give you energy. For a mere $40USD per bottle this health in a jar can be yours.

The most entertainment that I have had from it though was around the Thanksgiving table as we each gave thanks for something in our lives. One of my aunts (many of my extended family is trying out this product) said she was thankful to have found this drink that has cleared her sinuses and allowed her to smell once again. My grandfather said he was thankful "that the "snake oil" has helped S, and J, and C, and other family members."

Of course, if the "snake oil" works, who cares if it's sold like old medicine man products? At best it does help people with their ills. At worst, you're still getting a healthy fruit drink that is better for you than a candy bar. We'll be trying it soon to see how it goes for us.

For other fruitiness, see the Thursday Challenge Forum.

P.S. We tried it out and liked it pretty well. Sadly, the price is a little steep for us. At half the price, I might have been more tempted.

Do they make an 'inactive' version too??

I've seen this marketed as Mangosten fruit in australia - similar price too. Vitamin C is best, in orange juice, and lots of it to prevent scurvy and gangrene!

Agree with your Grandfather, but I would like a taste!

I can buy 20 bottles of Two-Buck Chuck for $40.
Might need that stuff to resusitate me afterwards though...

A good wine could do the same for a bit less ;-) Nice entry. Great story!

Drinking shots in the morning and before bed? I tried that in college. It certainly didn't make me feel better.

Your grandfather has his head screwed on right,
I do love the image.

Wow- it looks kind of intimidating. You drink it first and let me know how it is. :)

Nice! As usual, your stories are as rich and detailed as your photos. So... does this stuff mend broken bones? i've got a few of those...
