The Glue Pot

Nome

This eating establishment in Nome is next to the Nome Nugget newspaper, Alaska's oldest. Nome is not far removed from the gold rush. Unlike the gold rush towns in Colorado and Montana, Nome has yet to become a cutesy playground for hedge fund managers, trial attorneys, and trustafarians. Once I was reading the Nugget and ran across an account of a fight that had taken place at the Board of Trade, an ancient and venerable Nome bar. The names and the accounting of events was familiar. I was pretty sure it was the fight I'd witnessed early the previous Sunday morning. Then I noticed the banner at the top of the column: "100 years ago in the Nugget" How's the food at The Glue Pot? Take a wild guess....

This is a great photo! What light...I really miss it. There's nothin' like it down south here.
