Vernal Falls HDR

Yosemite National Park

This is a five shot HDR sequence taken at 1 EV increments of Vernal Falls. Everybody knows that you aren't supposed to
photograph moving subjects, especially waterfalls this way, but I did it anyway just to see the result. It is better than
expected, but not as good as it could have been by using some better suited technique. The scene was extremely high
contrast so a lot of tone curve tweaking was employed in spite of using HDR to get a wider latitude of exposure.

Vernal Falls is about a 4.5 mile hike from the parking area near Curry Village. The path is very good, but it is quite steep
in a few areas along with a lot of foot traffic. Plan on about 2.5 hours time to hike up and much less to hike down. The water
flow in autumn is very low in comparison to the spring, but it is one of the very few waterfalls that run all year in Yosemite Park.
A hike up to the bottom of Vernal Falls is worth the effort even during the times when the flow is very low.
