Waiting

Baltimore, MD

I’m still “hanging” in the Baltimore area. I got word late Thursday that Rancho Bernardo will be open to be “repopulated” on Friday, although air quality over the entire San Diego region is dangerous.

Meanwhile the weather here is drab and rainy. Depending on several variable I’m hoping to visit with Pete (virginiacoastline) before I blow out of here.

I hope you all have a great weekend, and I am deeply touched by all your kind thoughts, prayers, and support.

I am so glad that your home is intact but I know the smoke is deadly. Glad you are on the good coast through all this and I am so jealous that you get to meet up with pete.

Just so glad you have a home to go home to....and a visit with the other Pete should be so much fun. Just take care of yourself.

It will be okay. I'm just glad your home is safe and you too. Best to stay put until the air clears. Tell Pete I said hey!

I've been moving all week and finally got my internet up and running. Have been thinking about you and praying for you though. Glad to hear your home is safe. Whew! Take care my friend...you will continue to be in my prayers. Keep safe.

Love ya!

Good shot on a rainy day. Life is real sometimes.
But the good news seems to be that you may hook up with some Pbase folks and then zip home to do a mini-70 to 300 mm comp with Gary. Then everyone off to stuff their fine faces with pancakes at the Old Pancake House.
Nothing wrong wtih that plan Robin.
Take care sir. Keep safe.

You're sure looking sad in this image. Maybe both are what the doctor ordered: time with a fellow pbaser then head home and clean the ash.

Robin........good grief, the look on your face, you look like you are about to pass out from boredom.........time to come home. Ditto what Dan said, it really is not that bad anymore. In fact, seeming pretty normal again..at least here in Poway which is right next door to you. Whatever you do, I hope you start smiling again!
Herb 26-Oct-2007 21:38
It's OK you can come home now.
Dougie Young26-Oct-2007 21:35
Hi Robin been watching it all on CNN. I hope you get home safe and as Dan has said the air isn't too bad. Go eat some pancakes and get some fotos of the looky-loos for us..:>
Gail Davison26-Oct-2007 20:31
Good luck Robin. We have a PBase meet in York UK this weekend and I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you and others in this situation.
Cliff26-Oct-2007 20:29
Thinking of you Robin and all the folks effected by this.
Karen Leaf26-Oct-2007 18:23
I WANNA MEETUP WITH PETE, TOO!!
Dan Chusid26-Oct-2007 18:19
The air's not that bad here and getting better all the time. Yesterday was certainly
better than Tuesday.
Not sure about your neighborhood of course, since there's probably more ash
around there to blow around but overall it's much better than I remember from
the Cedar Fire.
Qualcomm is closing up shop in an hour for evacuees to head elsewhere since
most have returned to their homes.
Things will get back to normal here soon but this weekend will probably bring
out all the looky-loos to the devastated areas just like 4 years ago.

Maybe we can all meet at the Old Pancake House in Poway sometime
to discuss the events.
You like pancakes right?
: )

When you get back, Robin, give me a jingle. We can finally have our 70-300 lens-off we've been talking about. You have the DO, and I now have the IS non DO. Ironically, San Diego should provide lots of target-rich environments.
Gary Blanchette26-Oct-2007 17:45
Yes indeed! Don't be in a hurry to come home. It's pretty yucko here.

If anything is going to cheer you up it will be a visit with Pete !! The good news is you have a home to go to...when the air clears !!
Susan T26-Oct-2007 16:34
Hang in there Robin....
Guest 26-Oct-2007 15:17
Robin,
We know you're anxious to get back, but agree with Danny that maybe you should stay away 'til the air is better.
You know if you want to change your plans, you have a place to stay with us. (And, yes, I'll try to post some more recent photos besides the reunion ones - I have been a pbase slacker.)
Coleen Perilloux Landry26-Oct-2007 15:17
If anyone can cheer you up, Pete can. And, she'll probably feed you all sorts of wonderful things.
Guest 26-Oct-2007 14:48
You prolly ought to stay away from home 'til the air gets better. I saw where a front was moving in and going to push all the smoke that drifted out to sea back inland again. I'm just glad your home isn't gone like so many others.
