St. Egidius Basilica

Bardejov, Slovakia

Roman-catholic parochial church of St. Egidius. A written mention of a three nave basilica with simple arcades was made in 1427. In 1448 - 1458, the Bardejov builder Mikulas completed a shrine, a vestry, and St. Catherine's chapel, the royal oratory was built above the vestry. By 1464, the construction had been completed. A unique set of eleven wing-altars, a number of other works of the Late-Gothic and Early-Renaissance periods have been preserved to our days. Murals, handicraft, a set of patron benches, candelabra, chandeliers, a font, liturgical instruments, Calvary-sculptural, etc.
