One of the most venerated shrines in Laos, Wat That Ing Hang, 10 miles north of Savannaket, is often visited by lao from all over the country, and 2 or 3 important festivals are celebrated yearly in its midst. Its unique statuary, dating like the shrine, from the 16th century, seems taken straight from medieval imagery of the sort we could imagine on european cathedrals.
