The premier lavender production area in France is the Vaucluse region around Apt. There are literally hundreds of fields but the very finest and most artistically presented are on the mountain slopes surrounding Bonnieux. Of all the fields I found this was just about the most tantalisingly close to perfection. The colour was amazing, the view offered a little elevation and the perfect rows stretched out to some delightful rural scenery.
