Castillo de Pincheira, (Pincheira’s castle)
Near Malargüe, there is a formation carved by the erosive action of wind and water
into shapes that resembles a huge castle, with its towers surrounded by cones made
out of sedimentary material... you can find the Malargue river flowing at its feet
and at a few meters away the clear Pincheira spring.
It was named after the leader and bandit, José Antonio Pincheira, as it was a refuge for him and his people who used this place as a hideout.
The site also contains potsherds, arrowheads and other remnants of the Indians that developed their culture in the region.
