16-JUN-2007 Terri Steele

June 16

I'm not sure if this is a sparrow or a finch, as this precise specimen does not
seem to appear in my audubon field guide. This particular bird is plentiful here,
and I loved his little pose here perched in the Golden Rain Tree. I thought this was a
pretty good test shot with my 70-200 and the 2x attachment. I think that this combo
promises to be alot of fun for me when I have good lighting.

I did catch some really exciting hummingbird shots this evening. The fuschias
are beginning to blossom in earnest all over the garden, and the hummingbirds
love them. However, the hummer shots I took were all a bit dark and noisy, so
alas, the killer hummer photo eludes me for yet another day... ;)

PS.... Happy Birthday Patricia!!!

Great capture Terri. I got the 1.4 as I was worried about going all the way to the 2 but obviously it works well.

House sparrows seem to have got everywhere. I have lots in the garden and love them because they are so lively

Terri, this is great. I have been looking at this extender but had a couple of questions about its effect on quality and light. I like the bokah and sharpness. I see a little noise starting in , probably just the 800 ISO, but still excellent quality. You now officially have two lens I want! (Lens envy?) Cheers Ron

Great shot with excellent details and color Terri. I am impress that
the 2x extender can produce such fine image. Of course it is mainly
your shooting skill that produces this fine image. Vote.

Nice catch, Terri. That's a House Sparrow, an Old World species that has become abundant throughout most of North America. Very common here in S.F. Good luck with the hummers.
