Macro X1 (real size) with the Kit lens and EF 25 II !!!. The kit lens gets a lot of bad press but here in this role it shines. As its macro magnification is 0.34 and then with the Extension tube it moves to 1.0 it's not a bad lens to carry in the field, along with the EF 25 II for that extra close up. I also wonder why they sell the EF 12 II as the range is fairly well covered with the EF 25 II (only 0.34 to 0.44 missing if you have only the EFS 18-55 kit lens). The use of the extension tube with the EFS 17-85mm is very limited and not a good combination.
