Il genitore porta al nido il pesce già ucciso e preparato per essere introdotto nel gozzo del piccolo martin pescatore a partire dalla testa, in questo modo le lische non sono pericolose.

A parent brings a dead fish to the nest - the prey is ready for being shallowed by the young kingfisher. He eats the fish from the head, so he does not risk of being injured by sharp scales.
