Beautiful shot Shirley. Who needs a macro lens?

Incredible shot, Shirley. Perfect balance in the distribution of the colours.
I've had to rescue my school books to find what a "stamen" was :oD endika

Powerful color Shirley. Right on theme and I never would have thought of this one. Most my picks are random luck anyway.

Well, Shirley you realy nailed this flower. My 40-150 was sharp, but yours is even sharper. My conclusion is not only about this picture, but from others I saw from you.I like composition and colors to. If you not own a macro lens, you should get one, in spite to your brother :-))))

I love how much detail this pic shows.....I'm already looking into getting this lens, and this has just motivated me to save even more!!!

Marc you inspired me for this type of crop. I did have to crop but you can fill the frame with an entire tulip before the crop, barely! I was just soooo happy to finally see some flowers! These Tulips were the first I'd seen blooming. I put these in a Flower gallery on my pbase if ya want to see them all.

Brent, that silly ol kit lens isn't a bad lens at all! Did you see that high shutter speed? LOL That breeze was tossing these about a lot!

What can i say, Shirley ? Considering this is done with the 40-150, this is a great close up. One of my gripes with this lens was the inability to get remotely close to anything...But some nice cropping (i guess) does the trick. Nice picture, with very good orange/red tones. Full of vitality, this one !

Isn't this beautiful? Who needs a macro lens when you have such marvelous use of the telephoto :-) Good work, Shirley.

Thank you very much Tom and Richard! I used my trusty 40-150mm kit lens. I swear the longer I have that lens and my camera (going on 2 years this Aug.) I just love that lens. I am only going to get the 50-200mm for the extra reach. I can't imagine it really being that much better but, I hope it surprises me!

If bees can find it so can we. You must have run around the yard with a magnifying glass. It is a very pretty and crisp shot. I can even see the little tiny thingys on the stem. A botanist I am not
