Embedded in an ancient black flagstone jetty covered with sea weed and limpets I found a rusty old mooring ring glowing like a piece of hot forged metal in a blacksmith's fire. I love the tiny visual clues given in these tight detail shots, the ring left on a flagstone by a limpet knocked off by a moored boat, the telltale smear of rust behind the ring where it has previously flipped over indicating that perhaps the ring is still occasionally used. It's great how so little can reveal so much.
