Looks similar to the Hairy but is smaller (length ~ 6.75" & wingspan 12"). It has 'conspicuous nasal hairs' that get grimy from the suet feeder. These are relatively tame birds and will feed from your hands in areas where birds are used to being hand fed. Once you hear their sounds you'll get used to it and will hear them approach before you see them. They'll let you know if you're spending too much time at the feeders.
