trees keep coming down_deep inside Philippine Jungle

This image was shot from our van. With mirrored windows. We were in a part of the jungle where camps and chainsaws and logging trucks exist. These are not fully mature trees either. In the 1950's 70% was jungle. Today there is only 5% left. Picop the logging industry has been exporting its logs for over 70 years. Mostly to Japan. Today Pinoys have to work to feed there families. These adults and children make less than a dollar a day. Picop uses a "Mission statement." Next to this sign are verses from the Bible. With 90% Roman Catholic most pinoys accept the fact "clear cutting" is GODs work. Sidebar:
The Philippine eagle no longer lives/nests in this jungle. It has relocated on it's own. This disturbance will continue. In Vigan the home of Marcos. The local kid who became President..at one home residence you will see for yourself some of the most beautiful hardwood floors(Narra,Yakal)in the world.
