I just visited the castle for a few days, had one dawn near where you took this shot, and the other Joe Cornish inspired one at Dunstanburgh beach. The sun was further round to the east by this time, so I had to go wider than this, losing something of the castle in the process. This is a lovely composition, the sun is in the perfect place (obviously feb is the time), and you've controlled it tremendously well, presumably using a grad filter? Or perhaps there was just a helpful haze on the horizon, toning it down for you. Either way this is a lovely shot. v
