These playing marks locate the position of the harmonics/overtones. Having no frets, the Guqin is famous for its many slides and tremoli, and the left hand often moves back and forth to modulate the plucked string, change the pitch or create a vibrato.

Die Qin ist nicht einfach zu spielen, da man für eine gute Intonation sehr genau die Position der Töne kennen muss. Während die rechte Hand die Saiten zupft, kann die linke Hand durch Gleiten und Verschieben vielfältige Tonveränderungen herbeiführen.
